TEAM TRAINING · HUMAN FACTORS · PROCESS IMPROVEMENT

In an emergency, teamwork matters.

When emergencies go wrong, a lack of knowledge is rarely the issue. Breakdowns in communication, decision-making and team processes are where most errors arise. Simulation makes them visible and gives teams the opportunity to practise.

What the training offers

Medical emergencies do not happen in a classroom. They happen where you work. We help you prepare.

THREE MODULES, INDIVIDUALLY OR COMBINED

The right approach for your team.

TEAM TRAINING

Train in your actual workplace

Turn individual experts into an effective team.

Communication breaks down. Roles are unclear. Decisions are delayed. The people are capable, but the team has never trained together as a system under realistic conditions.

Recommended for: Strengthening an established team.

FOCUS AREAS
  • Communication & leadership
  • Role allocation
  • Decision-making under pressure
  • Clinical handovers and coordination between teams
PROCESS IMPROVEMENT

Improve everyday practice

Before errors turn into emergencies.

Information is lost between teams. Handovers vary from one person to the next. These are the points where errors arise, before an emergency develops.

Recommended for: Improving working processes.

FOCUS AREAS
  • Clinical handovers & coordination between teams
  • Clear roles and responsibilities
  • Identifying sources of error in working processes
COMMISSIONING

Simulate before opening

Safety before the first patient is treated.

A new ward. A new team. New processes. The first weeks are the most critical, because nobody yet knows what will work in an emergency. We identify weaknesses before they become problems.

Recommended for: Opening a new clinical service.

FOCUS AREAS
  • Simulating new processes
  • Identifying structural weaknesses
  • Readiness simulation before opening
RESEARCH EVIDENCE

What simulation can measurably improve

Crisis Resource Management (CRM) and in situ simulation have been shown to improve clinical skills, communication and teamwork. Above all, they reveal latent safety threats, before they affect patients: missing supplies, unclear roles and untested processes.

These gaps remain hidden in a conventional classroom course. Training in the actual workplace brings them to light.

The key mechanism: video-assisted debriefing. Video-assisted debriefing allows teams to review observable behaviour rather than relying on recollection alone.

That is why video-assisted debriefing is an integral part of every Med-STA simulation-based team training programme, in your actual workplace, with your own team and equipment.

HOW IT WORKS

From your first enquiry to implementation in five steps

Know what to expect before you enquire. A structured process designed to minimise demands on your department and maximise the impact of training.

1

Initial consultation & objectives

Together, we define the clinical area, risks, participants and learning objectives, free of charge and with no obligation.

2

Scenario design

Med-STA develops realistic scenarios tailored to your team, premises and working processes.

3

Simulation in your actual workplace

Your team trains in its own workplace using familiar equipment, without putting patients at risk.

4

Video-assisted debriefing

A structured, video-assisted review explores communication, roles, decisions and coordination between teams.

5

Applying learning & taking action

You receive practical recommendations to improve teamwork, processes and organisation, providing a basis for lasting change.

Why Med-STA

Experience, certification and recognition that matter

Training teams since 2005

Over 25,000 participants trained in real workplaces rather than classrooms.

ERC course centre & continuing education approval

An official ERC course centre, with Austrian DFP and ÖGKV PFP approval and documented continuing education.

Recognised in 2025

Austrian Patient Safety Award 2025 and HRO-Award 2025: independent recognition of quality.

Video-assisted debriefing

High-fidelity simulation in your actual workplace with structured, video-assisted debriefing makes team behaviour visible and creates opportunities for change.
