Med-STA’s training and patient safety work has received recognition from independent expert juries in Austria and internationally.
In October 2025, Med-STA and PVE Diakonissen GmbH at Mürzzuschlag received the Austrian Patient Safety Award in the primary care category. Plattform Patient:innensicherheit presented the award at its annual conference at Klinik Floridsdorf, recognising projects that improve patient safety.
The award recognised the project “Lean-supported commissioning with a high reliability organisation approach — safety through structure” (English translation of the German project title). It combines structured Lean workshops, simulation-based team training and high reliability organisation (HRO) principles to support the safe, efficient opening of new primary care units. Med-STA designed and delivered the training.
In November 2025, the joint emergency training programme of Krankenhaus der Elisabethinen Graz and Med-STA was recognised with the HRO-Award in Berlin. Gesundheitsstadt Berlin and the Ecclesia Group present the award at the Neuer Qualitätskongress Gesundheit to recognise high reliability in everyday healthcare processes.
The award recognises long-standing work at Krankenhaus der Elisabethinen Graz. Med-STA has provided simulation-based team training there since 2012, alongside ILS courses, with training continuing during the COVID-19 pandemic. Knowledge, practice and reflection support preparedness for critical situations. [Editorial review: confirm the separate start date of ILS provision before publication.]
